And we lose
CDR finally gets picked by the Nets, 5 picks ahead of the Spurs next pick...I'm demoralized
Prediction recap to this point
Well, as we all knew was gonna happen, I suck at this game. Let's go thru the calls shall we:
~got Rose right, but that was a given
~Beasley is pending, just wait for the trade
~Portland has been involved in 1 trade we know about, and then online sources are saying that they traded Arthur (Hornets picked him for them) to the Rockets, so theres 2 allegedly.
~DJ went way higher than I thought, that one still blows my mind
~Gordon went 7th...Pretty reasonable actually, Arthur was the slide of the draft
~Knicks came thru obviously...but where was Spike?? That's always a given
~Steven A is still loud.
I had some picks right and some wrong thru the middle. But that's just so far. Plenty of Draft left, including 2 chances for the Spurs to redeem themselves. Mind you, CDR still on the board...

Well that's about 20 picks left
Chalmers finally goes to Minnesota at 34. Talk about a freaking steal. Spurs have the 15th pick in this round, if somehow CDR is still around and we pass him up....IUPUI?!?!?! arghhhhhh
Now I'm really confused, and apparently Houston is making better moves than us
Ok, so Arthur had some mystery kidney issues, hence his drop. Sure, ok. I can understand CDR still being available as he was on the fringe of the 1st in most mock drafts, so ok. But what's the deal with Chalmers? Had a hell of a year at Kansas, even without the big game winner in the championship game, coming into a league short on point guards. What do we not know about him now? Mystery tumor, did he bang a gm's daughter and is now getting black balled? Did the coach from IUPUI pay Pop? (soooooo bitter)
And apparently, according to online reports (nothing on ESPN yet) the Rockets are trading Nic Batum to Portland for Arthur and Portland's 3rd pick in the 2nd round. If that's true a hell of a move....and way lame for the Spurs. I hate sports

george hill...
george hill?? GEORGE HILL??? WHO THE HELL IS GEORGE HILL?!?!?!?!??!?! Damnit Pop, you had 2 guys who probably shouldve gone in the lottery and CDR all on the board and you draft a rando from IUPUI.....WHO THE HELL IS GEORGE HILL?!?!?!?!?!? i'm f'ing livid
This could be awesome
Spurs pick at 26, we are now at pick 24. CDR, Mario Chalmers, and Darell freaking Arthur are all still available. That means 1 of those 3 will be available to us. If Pop drafts a random Euro and not one of these 3 I will be livid
This is getting ugly
Alexis Ajinca at 20....who? It's now conceivable the Spurs could get Arthur. But it's dinner time, so posting will now slow considerably. mmmm steak.
The fall of Darell Arthur
Arthur is getting the Brady treatment of awkward closeups every 45 seconds. Cavs go with JJ Hickson from NCST. Charlotte's up now. They still need to get some bigs...Arthur is way cheaper than he should be... Come on now
Proper way to use your status
They just showed random clips of Brook Lopez before he was picked, and I'm pretty sure that he tried to make a booty call. AWESOME, exactly what he should be doing.
Wizards go with Javale Mcgee, a forward from Nevada. Again...who? And who's car did Darell Arthur key during work outs. I mean, yah, there were ?s about his effort at Kansas, and you have to be a lil scared about giving him guaranteed money, but come on, when he's on he's a gamer.
YES, finally a trade, and of course Portland involved.
Ind get: Jarret Jack, Brandon Rush(13th pick)
Por get: Ike Diogu, Jerryd Bayless(11th pick)
validation thy mascot is Trailblazer.

Well....I was close
My head was in the right place, but they ended up going with Roy Hibbert from G'town. I love Hibbert, watched him play for 9 years at G'town, but a lil early I think for him. Wizards on the clock. There are a lot more big men, but I wouldn't be surprised if they go guard to get ready for the post-Hibachi era. Altho if it's me, I take Arthur, he's too good to pass
HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA
Thanks Steve, I appreciate you continuing your covert ordinance Spurs work as the PHX GM. Yall take the shitty Lopez brother who can't really run the floor? Thank you. That and listening to the Lopez brothers try to talk is always awesome. hjglkjh
Phili's up, I'm saying here goes Arthur. Too good of an athlete to pass up, will work really well with Iguadala. Damn, wrong again. Phili goes to Florida for Maurice Speights, or however to spell it, the forward. Probably a solid player, but doubt he really does anything.
Technically the Raptors are on the clock, but this goes to the Pacers in the TJ/JO deal. They got another guard already so I'm thinking big man here. Let's go with Kosta Kofus from OSU. Again, spelling...no clue.

Back on track
Finally I get one right. And ESPN answers my question, Kareem is his bro, altho he's on the Pacers now. So Portland is now gonna start Rush, Roy, Aldridge, Oden, and some random PG (who prob isn't on the team as of right now)...F me that team is gonna be good next year and outstanding in 3 years.
Warriors on the clock. Probably need to go big here. I'm thinking Darrell Arthur or Randolph here. 2 Jayhawks back to back wouldn't stun me, and Arthur's a freakin stud but they probably figured Randolph would be gone by now and wont pass him up. Let's wait a bit...
Correct sir. Man he's tall. And man the suits are very depressing tonight, dont these guys know this is the NBA draft, you are supposed to come with some idiotic suit we can all make fun of.
Suns on the clock, no clue what my boy Steve Kerr is gonna do here. And can I please get a freaking trade already??

Trying to return to sanity
Indiana takes Jerryd Bayless from Arizona. Good guard, I like that pick. Acc to ESPN we just tied the record for Freshmen picked in a 1st rd, with the 11th pick. Granted, a skewed stat thanks to the new age limit, but still. Kings on the clock, idk, they wanted DJ bad, so prob some guard.
uhhh....who?? Kings go for Jason Thompson from Rider. Stern summed it up when he told us Thompson wasn't here. Theres a reach for ya. Lowest first SR to ever be taken. As a PF ESPN says he needs to improve his Post D, yah, that wont hurt you at all. Stuart Scott makes a terrible joke, the rest of the booth just stares him down and he quietly moves on...what an idiot.
Well, still no Spike (1st time in like 7 years, thought that was a lock) no trades. But Portland has its first of 5 picks, a pick I figured for sure would've gotten shipped somewhere. I'm clearly off, and I have NO clue what Portland's plan is for this draft. I'm thinking Brandon Rush from Kansas (Is he Kareem's lil bro, last I saw played for theLakers, went to Missouri...anybody?)

WHAT?????
Well, there's the big surprise. DJ Augustin goes 9 to Charlotte, a team who needs big men, with Brook Lopez still there, and they already have Raymond Felton...This makes no sense. I had heard rumors that NJ would take him at 10 and then trade him to Portland, maybe CHA is gonna beat them to it? This just doesn't make sense tho, I'm really confused. Jersey is up now, I have no clue what's gonna happen. We havent had an in-draft trade yet, I'm thinking by pick 12 we will (and I'd be willing to bet $ Portland is part of it)
NJ finally takes Brook Lopez who was rocking the Brady Quinn "what the hell is going on face" Indiana is on the clock. They picked up TJ Ford for Jermaine Oneil, so I'd expect them to take someone to play at the 3 or 4 here. Let's go with Anthony Randolph from LSU. (Ford is 6 of 10 so far, not real sure where I'm at, we'll count the damage later)

And it all comes crashing down
Well, that's what happens when I get cute. Shouldve guess the Bucks would go goofy white guy. Joe Alexander from WV gets picked. Honestly...I really don't know all that much about him, I've seen him play against ND a few times, but never really stuck out outside of being Pittsnoggle2.0. Guess we shall see.
Bobcats on the clock. Since they cant go NC this year like they usually do, here goes Brook Lopez. This one I feel pretty good about actually

Oh yah, i'm an idiot
Clips go with Eric Gordon from Indiana, great pick, don't know why I didnt think so. Not only that But Gordon's white Jacket dark shirt dark pants takes the early hilarious draft night suit lead. Ford's 6 of 7 so far and the Bucks are on the clock. I can't even fathom a guess because the Bucks are that damn bad. Lets get crazy, here's the first big surprise. After getting Richard Jefferson today they still need help at the point, DJ Augustin goes here a lil high. Why not get a little cute with this
Damn I'm Good
5 was indeed Kevin Love from UCLA. He's a big boy, and a hell of a player, but has gotta work out if he wants to be able to get more than 20 mins a game. I do like the pick tho, and think Love will be a solid player for years to come. (yes i'm an authority on all things basketball, not only a respected member of the sports media but a former Stanley Cup Champ, it's true.) 1 for 1 so far
And the Knicks are on the clock. I expect Spike to be on TV within the next 10 minutes, I expect a no name Italian to get drafted, and I expect lots of angry Knick Fans. This should be fun. I mean, we all remember the shared thought of who the hell is Renaldo Balkman?(Altho that worked out pretty well for them). Here comes David, give me what I want....YES 2 for 2 and let the boos rain down. All I need now is the neverending wisdom of Spike Lee. By the way, new Knicks coach = Mike D'Antoni, 1st draft pick he makes = Danilo Galinari. Expect Fredo to be announcing the games this year. Fun Fact, Gallinari played for Armani Jeans Milano. Hilarious
Clippers are up now and I dont have a damn clue, let's guess a mystery Lopez

Mayo and more
So Mayo goes 3 to Minnesota. Good pick, but there are a few hilarious things to note here. Ovinton J'Anthony...I dont really need any more comment after that. 2nd, on the must improve they always show, OJ Mayo's (a point guard mind you) needs to improve his point guard skills...That could be a problem.
Seattle's up now, I'm still surprised they didnt jump up to 2 to get KD's buddy Beasley. Whoever they get, that is a scary young team, Durant, Jeff Green (an incredibly underrated guy even back when he was at Georgetown who's gonna be a hell of a player). I'm actually just gonna wait til they make the pick to make the post...
....
...
Here's Stern: wow, Seattle goes with Westbrook from UCLA. Kevin Durant giving a standing O, hard to blame him, Westbrook is a sick athlete who probably moves in to the starting PG spot automatically. Kid can FLY, crazy fast. Just because these things amuse me, looking at Chad Ford's final mock, he started out 3 for 3 but had Westbrook down at 7. Thought it would be one of the Lopez's here...strange pick. Point is tho, Seattle and Portland agree (already GOden, LaMarcus, and Brandon Roy) are adding potentially 5 more players (and Seattle has 6 today...seriously, how many picks do you need?!??) The Pacific NW is gonna be a huge problem in 2 years. Grizz then Knicks. Man I cant wait til the Knicks are on the clock. I'm guessing Love then the Italian who will inevitably suck.

Thoughts after 2
Derrick Rose goes 1 to Chi-town as expected. The suit wasn't notable for any reason, but holy hell the wrist was blinding. That watch is worth more than my life at this point im pretty sure. Yes, Beasley just got drafted by the Heat, note that I said he could be drafted there, he isn't gonna play there. Gotta be a trade (or of course I could be wrong because I'm an idiot...valid possibility) Minnesota's on the clock and Mayo seems like the logical pick, but Kevin McHale is an idiot, and who knows, Kevin Love from UCLA wouldnt be a shocker here.
WOOOO Draft day baby
I love drafts. I hate David Stern for starting out with a WNBA reference...seriously dude, nobody gives a damn. I have 3 more predictions, Rose goes first, a lot of people are about to get paid a looooot of cash, and there are gonna be some awesome freaking suits. Game on
pre-draft thoughts/predictions
Hey kids,
First off, I can't believe Fresno Freaking State won the NCAA CWS last night. They were a 4 seed in their regional...which in bball would be a 13-16 seed. They used every possible loss in Omaha, and yet still pulled the upset. Nuts, congrats to them.
If you know me, you know i have an absurd love of drafts. Well tonight is the NBA draft, and I'm pretty pumped. I'm realllllyyyyy hoping the Spurs make a pick of someone who can play next year, preferably someone I've heard of, and if he's still on the board for the love of Sean Elliot DRAFT CDR. Roberts was a supposed lottery pick at the start of the year, and now mock drafts have him dropping all the way to 30. If he's still there PLEASE take him, we need a more serviceable backup to Tim than the corpse of Robert Horry.
Here are a few predictions I have on what will happen, will score it at the end of the night:
~Even if Beasley gets drafted at the 2 spot he will NEVER suit up for the Heat.
~Portland will be involved in at least 3 trades today. (BTW, they have 5 draft picks today....5, normally you have a 12 man roster. just ponder that for a sec)
~DJ Augustin will be drafted by the Kings at 12 (yah he could go before, but he definitely will not drop past 12)
~Eric Gordon is gonna get drafted way too low for his skill
~This random Italian Galardi guy will not be good
~The Knicks fans will boo their pick.
~Spike Lee will be interviewed for no reason
~Steven A Smith will yell at us for a long time tonight.
Thoughts, predictions of your own, wanna make fun of me, feel free. I'll be back w/ some thoughts during the draft.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAnd were back
Hey kids,
Long time no blog. Blew the other one up awhile ago, but I miss having somewhere for random sports thoughts nobody cares about, so here is where they will go. Some quick thoughts on random stuff that has happened lately:
~Damn I'm glad Kobe and LA lost
~Damn I cant believe Boston got another freaking title
~Congrats to KG, it's nice to see a player who genuinely seems to want to win.
~Shaq continues to make me not allowed to hate him, this time thanks to his rap against Kobe from some random bar in NYC, definitely worth looking up.
~Omaha and the College World Series is awesome, definitely worth going, and I definitely want to go back (and especially watch more ball)
~It's the end of June and Chipper Jones is hitting .393, he didnt drop under .400 until June 19, and he's 36 years old...that is stupid.
~I really wish the rest of the Braves would quit going on the DL
~Thanks John Smoltz for a hell of a career, you'll be missed.
~I really hope Manu doesn't play for Argentina in the Olympics
~I really can't wait for the Olympics, especially Basketball.
~3 bigs?? Really Colangelo and Coach K...you only want 3 bigs? You know they only get 5 fouls a game in the olympics right? You remember Tim getting whistled anytime he was near a foreigner 4 years ago right? Just making sure...
That's all I've got off the top of my head. NBA draft is Thursday, and you know I love drafts. Game 2 of the College World Series finals is about to start between Georgia and Fresno State. Yes FSU is one of the craziest underdog stories of all time, but f that noise, go Georgia.
If anyone actually reads this, awesome, thanks, feel free to leave a comment at the bottom, or don't. Let's see if this sticks around this time
