By far the craziest weekend we've had so far in the college football season. #s 1, 3, 4, and 9 all went down, several to unranked opponents. Needless to say, this will lead to some shicanery with our picks. Let's assess the damage shall we:
Record to date:
ATS:12-11
SU:16-7
Purdue @ ND (pickem)
Pick: ND win
Result: 38-21 ND Win both. The Irish looked like hell in the 1st half but came out with a vengeance in the 2nd, putting up 21 points in the 3rd qtr in what was one of the best qtr's of ND football I've seen in years. Jimmy Clausen had a career high day for yards as did Armando Allen as the Irish finally got some positive yardage on the ground. A new freshman stepped up as Robert Blanton had a pick 6 to tie the game up in the 2nd qtr and my boy Michael Floyd added 100 yards receiving. Just a good all around day for the Irish
Bama @ Georgia (-7)
Pick: Georgia cover
Result: 41-30 Bama, lose both. A mother f-ing funeral indeed Bama. While Georgia made it a lil more respectable in the 2nd half this was a beat down. I know you cant drop OU when they won handily, but I have a hard time putting anyone in the country above Bama after this game.
Illinois @ Penn St (-15)
Pick: Ill cover, PSU win
Result: 38-24 PSU, win both. Cut it close but just under the spread. PSU looked quite good in this ball game and have taken over as front runners in the Big TenLeven after Wisco inexplicably blew their game to Michigan.
TCU @ OU (-19)
Pick: OU cover
Result: 35-10 OU win both. A dominant performance for the Sooners against a solid TCU team. These guys are nasty and while I disagree, are certainly deserving of being #1 in all the land. I can't wait for the Red River Shootout in 2 weeks, should be a hell of a ballgame.
Wisconsin (-6.5) @ Michigan
Pick: Wisco cover
Result: 27-25 Michigan, lose both. A pathetic chokejob by the badgers here. Up 19-0 at the half after forcing 5 turnovers, Wisco allowed Michigan to pull off the 2nd biggest comeback in school history. Just a shameful bedwetting when they had a chance to strengthen their hold on the Big TenLeven. In silver lining mode, it makes the Irish look better so I will take it.
